Hi everyone !

Welcome to my blog which means that you know my name is Leona and furthermore you know the products and services I provide.

Well that's enough of the formalities.

I asked a friend of mine"what's a blog ?"

She told me a blog is an informal diary with random thoughts and ideas both written and in photographic form, in this case linked to Posh Chair Covers and Bows.

Seem's straightforward enough.

I then looked at other blog's and decided i didn't want to fall into the trap as others have of the blog solely becoming a platform for self promotion.
I noticed that sometimes people take themselves far too seriously !

I did have a few reservations about the blog, such as putting our new ideas up for others to copy, but everything comes with a downside and as someone once said "copied but never surpassed".
Come on people have a bit originality ( you know who you are).

I was also thinking of doing a feature every now and again of specialist suppliers that we work closely with to open the subject matter up a bit.

Hopefully as we progress it will be informative and heaven forbid a bit of fun !

So without further ado...................

The answer is...........

Matfen Hall is the first image.
www.poshchaircoversandbows.co.uk
The latin inscription can be found above the external door leading to The Great Hall.
The chairs were dressed in a deep plum organza for the civil ceremony and later taken by Matfen staff to be placed round the tables in readiness for the Wedding Breakfast.

Wynyard Hall is the second image.
This crest and inscription is above the door leading from The Ballroom toward The Chapel.
We were at Wynyard twice this week the first being in the mirrored room dressing the chairs in a vintage purple.
The resident photographer ( my other half ) decided to go all 'arty' and emphasise the fact that we were in the mirror room by taking a photograph through the mirror.

The second visit was to dress for a Wedding breakfast in the ballroom in a rich claret that totally complimented the biscuit linen.

A Bow Is Just A Bow.........or is it ? Origami On Chair covers with Organza

We dont want to re-invent the wheel but sometimes, well actually more than sometimes brides say " can you do something a little bit different ".

www.poshchaircoversandbows.co.uk

The answer is probably maybe.
The bride had a rose theme going on so we designed a sash to go with the theme.

<img alt="" border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF8WhO66SL3PKKklVNFIkpr9CrqetrLKoJl11q6ig8iSaetpiKZ6G9Z-MdCisPL4z6tUlwVSQVdsM-LUEWAiYOai8ZLGEd1PU6rAspx5AlCZ0vFbau2JxLSbuNg1no7Tf8PX3AR5K-Z68/s320/IMG_6755.JPG" title="durham castle chair covers" width="320" />

Is it a bow is it a plane !
No its a fan.
The bride wanted something a bit less than a bow so a fan design was just perfect.

Job done.

Coincidentally both Weddings with the different type of bows were at Durham Castle.

The Venue - a  minimalistic industrial reception room.

The Request - to make it elegant fit for a Wedding in keeping with  the room.

Result :

Saturday Was A Day About - Accessories and Centrepieces

Everyone has there own idea on what they would like in the centre of their wedding table and the bride came to us wanting something contemporary and non-floral. We came up with a martini vase underlit with our exclusive LED unit. The photographs were taken in full bright sunlight imagine the effect when the lights came down on the evening.

Adding a simple but effective accessory can give that little extra something to the sash.

Happy New Year !

Yes I know its April but we always regard the start of the financial year as the start of  ‘The Wedding Year’.

This is  for us when the season starts to pick up momentum and by June we are flat out, ( watch this space for a weekend  in the life of Posh Chair Covers and Bows !).

I thought whilst I take a little breather in anticipation of the Wedding season I would re-cap over the last 12 months.

I know stats aren’t everybody’s cup of tea.

I mean after all  “Statistics show.. every two minutes another statistic is created ! "

But you may find it entertaining so why don't you make that cup of tea, put your feet up and take 5.

In the past 12 months we 'covered' 49 different venues, visiting one venue in excess of 15 times.

Of all the Weddings we set up, 41 % were Civil Ceremonies.

Our busiest month was August with 25 Weddings.

75% of Brides had White Chair Covers and 25% had Ivory Chair Covers.

The most popular colour by far was Aubergine/Plum with 21% of brides     choosing this colour followed by Silver @ 10% and Navy Blue @ 7%.

We do offer a bespoke sevice whereby we can dye sashes 6% of brides
 chose this service.

7% of brides chose to have the top table swagged.

 Crystal Ball time !!

What do we see as being the en-vogue colour for the next 12 months ?

Cadbury Purple is looking favourite with Burnt Orange being a contender and
watch out for the lace sashes.

We think Bling is big for the months ahead and have an exclusive line in
 Diamante Brooches.

We'll see in 12 months time how our predictions hold up so until then.....

Going the extra..................

I realise that choosing the right centrepiece and colour scheme needs to be given careful thought and more often than not this can be discussed and chosen when the bride comes to my home for a one to one consultation.

However there are occasions when we need to take it one step further and this can involve me meeting the bride at the venue to dress a table in order that the visualisation process is taken to that next level.

This week I met 2 brides at Wynyard Hall where I  was able to dress a table and chairs in order that a colour scheme could be chosen.

The colour of choice for this future bride was Coral.

Going on from this the bride was also searching for a unique centrepiece that picked up on her colour scheme so we encorporated a centrepiece with elegant roses and gave it a contemporary twist by using an LED lit base set to a Coral light, this light was then picked up in the crystal droplets on the chandelier.

My second appointment for the evening was for a bride who needed to bring green into her wedding breakfast room so after much deliberation.

A rich deep green complementing Wynyard's Biscuit coloured chair covers and linen.

Shaggy It's a Gho..o..o..st !

We visit some wonderful venues in the North East, however we get to see them as others dont.

www.poshchaircoversandbows.co.ukThis is a shot of The Great Hall at Matfen Hall from the balcony.

The Great Hall will hold many secrets, but what exactly is the 'spectre' at the top right of the photograph?
Now if that had been a one off shot, then perhaps: freak shot, trick of the light, but i took 3 photographs and they all showed this image.

Who knows the secret of the Great Hall ?

Needless to say the day went beautifully for the Wedding Party, could be though they had an extra un-expected guest!

Can I park anywhere nearer !?

We always try and get as close as possible in the posh-mobile but this is a bit ridiculous.

www.poshchaircoversandbows.co.uk
Here we are at Whitworth Hall for a set up of  white chair covers and charcoal/gunmetal sashes in the Duncombe Suite.
This has been a firm favourite over the winter.
